Trilby Station Outback Experience

Outback NSW Attractions

The Outback is one of those rare experiences that taps into the very essence of the Australian heritage. A journey here will touch your soul and Trilby Station is a fine place for your journey to begin.

The NSW Outback provides a unique Australian experience that brings visitors in contact with the ancient and spectacular landscape of the Outback. Here you'll find rugged beauty, vivid red earth, bright blue skies, endless horizons and prolific native wildlife.

Outback NSW is rich in aboriginal history and an hours drive from Trilby Station can take you back 50,000 years to the dreamtime territory of the Ngemba tribe in the canyon of Mt Gundabooka, where you can view classic rock paintings. Time spent atop Mt Oxley, looking across a 100km expanse rekindles the experience of explorers Sturt and Hume in 1829 where they felt that "this would never be the haunt of civilized man'.

The Trilby Experience

Images loading please wait ...

  • Your hosts, Liz and Gary have lived at Trilby since their marriage in 1981. They have four children, Alex, Tom, AJ and Will.  The boys are working the property with Liz and Gary while Alex has her own Architecutural business in Dubbo. Thirty seven years on ... and Liz and Gary still love their outback lifestyle at Trilby.

  • Gary tends to keep a low profile. "The station doesn't run itself" he says and he have thousands of four legged 'guests' to keep happy. You might spot Gary overhead as he musters the sheep and checks the station bores from his Cessna 172 – his "Toyota in the sky", or come across him 'out the back' as you explore the station with your 'mud map'.

  • Trilby Station offers outback country hospitality and riverside accommodation in the fully renovated Stockman's Cottages and the new Shearer's Bunkhouse. Or you may choose to avail yourself of the Powered Caravan Sites and secluded river Campsites dotted among age old river gums on the banks of the Darling River.

  • The Outback is one of those rare experiences that taps into the very essence of the Australian heritage. A journey here will touch your soul and Trilby Station is a fine place for your journey to begin.
