Your hosts Liz & Gary Murray have lived at Trilby since their marriage in 1981 and have four children.
While youngest son Will has settled at home on the station, daughter Alex has established Design Tribe Dubbo – the city’s only dedicated Architectural practice; Tom and his wife Jess and sons Hubert and Charlie are enjoying their new lifestyle near Inverell (and flying Blackhawk helicopters for work!!) and AJ, a Commercial Pilot based in Windhoek Namibia,is living his dream … flying and fishing (well, not so much fishing now that he’s moved from the NT … but adventure is still a top priority for him!). AJ has loved his time in Africa but will be heading home shortly… back to the NT I suspect.

Gary is very hard to get off the station, commenting work is his hobby, but Liz enjoys the challenges of remote area hiking; which she likens to ‘physical meditation’ – having tackled the Kokoda Track, Mt Kilimanjaro, the Larapinta Trail, The Anti-Atlas Mountains in Morocco, the stunningly beautiful Simien Mountains in Ethiopia, Mt Everest Base Camp with Alex and AJ, the Indian Himalayas in Ladakh, Northern India, the Milford track in New Zealand, The Annapurna’s in Nepal (Nepal is just one of those countries you’ll long to return to after your first visit), the Al Hajar mountains of Oman, the Singalila Ridge bordering Nepal and India, Tassie’s Overland Track, and amazing hikes in Italy, Turkey and Jordan! The hikes are getting easier by necessity ( however she did agree to join son AJ on Mt Kilimanjaro at the end of 2025, a memorable hike made more so by the constant snow for the last 24 hours of ascent!!) but the passion is still burning!
After 44 years, Liz and Gary still love their outback lifestyle at Trilby. They have put their heart and soul into the property – come share it with them.
